Quinta do Lago hosts chef Angélique Schmeinck

Quinta do Lago in the Algarve has announced an exclusive series of creative dinners in collaboration with the chef owner of CuliAir Skydining, Angélique Schmeinck.

Schmeinck is celebrated for her refined technique, artistic presentation and innovative flavour combinations. With her signature “edible painting” performances, she transforms food into something to be not only tasted, but also visually experienced.

One of only two female Dutch Master Chefs, Schmeinck rose to recognition when she launched the world’s first hot air balloon restaurant, CuliAir, and has since gone on to host edible painting performances at venues across the world.

Working with the chefs of Quinta do Lago, she creates a culinary journey through three distinct cuisines. Each evening begins with a welcome cocktail, live music and refined amuse-bouché, before Schmeinck brings her signature edible painting to life.

Following each performance, the chefs of each restaurant will take over, presenting a menu that reflects their culinary identity, complemented by wine pairings. The experience takes place at three of Quinta do Lago’s restaurants:

  • Casa Velha: Celebrating Portugal’s culinary heritage, the team showcases local ingredients, seasonal produce and traditional flavours reimagined. In the intimate setting of Casa Velha, the dialogue between chef, guest and dish takes centre stage.
  • Casa do Lago: Located by the lake, the restaurant provides the perfect backdrop for a dinner in which fish and seafood take centre stage. Dishes are guided by the richness of the Atlantic Ocean, focusing on pure flavours, delicate preparations and impeccable timing.
  • Umami: Known for its bold flavour profiles and contemporary approach to Asian gastronomy, Umami presents a journey to Asia through layered flavours, contrasting textures and a playful balance of sweet, sour, salty and umami.
