Spotlight: Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur
In the world of craft spirits, Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur is a bold and distinctive newcomer.
Produced in the Netherlands, it is the world’s first pandan liqueur, crafted from fresh pandan leaves and a curated blend of Indonesian botanicals.
Native to Southeast Asia, pandan is known for its vibrant green colour and is often described as ‘Asian vanilla,’ offering nutty and floral notes. Traditionally used in cooking and baking, pandan finds a new expression in this versatile spirit.
The name Bandoeng’22 pays tribute to Bandung, the capital of Indonesia’s West Java province celebrated in the 1920s for its Art Deco elegance and thriving cocktail culture. That spirit of creativity lives on in every bottle, bridging heritage and innovation.
Launched in 2019 through a Dutch crowdfunding campaign, Bandoeng’22 quickly gained recognition. In 2024, it earned double gold at the Bartenders Spirits Awards, followed in 2025 by a gold medal from the Beverage Testing Institute.
Praised by bartenders and chefs for its versatility and flavour, the liqueur pairs well with a wide range of base spirits, including rum, gin, tequila, vodka and whisky. It’s perfect for reinventing classics, from a Pandan Espresso Martini to a tropical twist on a Daiquiri.
Now, thanks to a new partnership with PR Dutch Drinks, a UK distributor of Dutch craft beverages, Bandoeng’22 is now available in the British on-trade market. Its primary focus is on premium cocktail bars and restaurants, especially those influenced by Asian cuisine and culture.
