Lake District-based soft drinks company Zingi Bear has launched a sparkling natural ginger switchel.

Popular amongst 18th century farmers in America, a switchel is a refreshing and rejuvenating apple cider vinegar and ginger elixir.

Inspired by a historic recipe of sparkling water and fresh root ginger, sweetened with organic acacia honey and pepped up with apple cider vinegar and Sicilian lemon juice, each alcohol-free Zingi Bear is made in small batches with the finest natural and organic ingredients.

The tart and effervescent switchel can be enjoyed both by itself as an alternative to alcohol or as a sophisticated mixer in a cocktail such as a Moscow Mule.

Founded by Laurie Freeman, Zingi Bear was created in response to the lack of flavourful, grown-up soft drinks that could measure up to a craft beer or cocktail, both in terms of flavour and packaging.

The non-alcoholic beverage is stocked at hotel restaurants and bars across the UK including Hipping Hall in Lancashire, The Newt in Somerset and L’Enclume in Lake District.

“At L’Enclume, we use the very best ingredients to create the very best dishes. Zingi Bear is doing just that with their drinks, that’s why we have supported them since the very beginning, and why they continue to sell well across our restaurants,” explains Michelin-starred chef, Simon Rogan.

“It’s important that our drinks menu can stand up to what’s on the plate, and that’s just as important for our alcohol-free options as it is with our wines and spirits.”
