Silver Lyan in Washington D.C. celebrates 5 years with new menu
Silver Lyan, located in a former bank vault on the lower level of Riggs Washington D.C., has launched its latest cocktail menu, The Butterfly Effect.
Founder Ryan Chetiyawardana aka Mr Lyan has been at the forefront of innovation within the drinks industry for over a decade. Celebrating his five years in the capital, Mr Lyan and the team’s newest offering explores the ripple effects that exchanging and sharing knowledge can create, and the unexpected, weird and wonderful impacts this can have on people around the world.
Each cocktail tells a story, woven with the rich culture of Silver Lyan’s home city, and drawing influence from its music, food, drink and history. The menu is split into four chapters: Culture & Media, Law & Government, Conflict, and Silver Classics.
Examples include the Hokusai Snap, a bold aperitif inspired by the accidental invention of Prussian Blue pigment and its cultural legacy; Pikachu Pop, a playful spritz reflecting the unpredictable chain reactions of digital autonomy; and The Mighty O, a whisky sour that is inspired by the way the aftereffects of human conflict can create space for renewal and biodiversity.
The Silver Classics chapter stays true to the cocktails guests know and love, with timeless serves like the Silver Apple Martini and Silver Service Martini, alongside fun reimaginings of American favourites.
“Spending time in the US, the birthplace of the cocktail, has always been super inspiring to us, and opening Silver Lyan here five years ago felt like the start of something really exciting,” says Chetiyawardana. “D.C. is full of stories that go way beyond food and drink, from music to activism to art, and so much more, and those stories have fuelled our team from day one.”
