Thesleff Group will launch Sale e Pepe Mare, a new dining concept inspired by the Italian coastline, at The Langham, London in late November.
Building on the legacy of the original Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge, which has been part of the capital’s dining scene since 1974, Sale e Pepe Mare will offer a modern interpretation with a seafood-focused menu served across breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The menu will feature signature dishes such as lobster linguine with Datterino tomatoes and basil, salt-baked whole sea bass and Linguine Vongole e Bottarga with fresh clams, garlic and parsley. New additions include fatty bluefin tuna on baked brioche with confit tomato and garlic, Gambero Rosso made with Mazzara del Vallo red prawn battuta with pink peppercorn and lemon verbena, and Tagliarini Grancho with Dorset crab, Calabrian anchovies and olive oil.
A central seafood display will highlight fresh daily catches, from oysters and langoustines to raw preparations. The kitchen will be equipped with a Josper grill, used to prepare whole turbot, clams and premium cuts of steak.
The dining experience will be enhanced with tableside preparation of dishes including Caesar Salad, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and Risotto ai Funghi Porcini. The signature dessert trolley will also return, featuring Sale e Pepe’s classic tiramisu.
The drinks programme will focus on Italian wines, showcasing renowned winemakers from across the country. Highlights include Super Tuscans and a dedicated page celebrating the Gaja estates. A Champagne and Negroni trolley will add further theatre, alongside a cocktail menu that brings together 1950s-inspired classics such as Dirty Martinis and muddled Old Fashioneds.
The design of Sale e Pepe Mare will feature warm wood panelling, plush Italian fabrics, a marble bar, and bespoke textured artwork, while soft lighting, blue hues and natural materials reflect a Mediterranean design aesthetic.
The 5,000-square-foot space will accommodate 130 guests and include a private dining room for up to 22. The main dining room will feature a walk-in wine room with display cabinetry and a 16-foot floor-to-ceiling bar.
“Sale e Pepe has always been more than a restaurant, it’s part of London’s cultural fabric. I grew up visiting with my parents, so it holds a special place in my heart,” says Markus Thesleff, CEO and founder of Thesleff Group. “With Sale e Pepe Mare, we’re honouring that legacy while reimagining it for today, capturing the spirit of la dolce vita in a setting that’s effortlessly elegant and luxurious.”
“Just as our hotel blends English tradition with modern hospitality, the restaurant brings a contemporary flair to classic Italian roots,” says Stefan Soennichsen, The Langham’s Managing Director. “It promises to be a fantastic addition to our culinary offering, and we’re confident it will prove hugely popular with our hotel guests and London diners alike”
