The Municipal Hotel & Spa MGallery introduces A Love Letter to Liverpool bar menu
The Municipal Hotel & Spa MGallery Liverpool has introduced a new cocktail menu titled A Love Letter to Liverpool.
Developed in collaboration with the hotel’s Palm Court Bar team and hospitality consultancy Anna Sebastian Hospitality, the four-cocktail menu draws on the city’s musical heritage, landmarks, local figures and distinctive humour. The concept references both Liverpool’s past and present, incorporating elements of local culture and identity, from well-known streets such as Penny Lane to familiar aspects of Scouse life.
Each cocktail incorporates a degree of visual presentation, with serves featuring elements such as postboxes, domes, smoke and bubbles. One of the highlights is the Palm Court’s house signature cocktail, Made Up Mist, a local interpretation of the French 75. The drink combines Citadelle Gin, Municipal Champagne, vanilla and Rinquinquin peach. The phrase “made up” is used locally to describe a feeling of happiness, reflected in the presentation as a light mist lifts from the glass.
Also featured is Born & Bred, known as the Docklands Martini, created with a local focus. The cocktail includes Bombay Sapphire Gin infused with cacao butter, Tio Pepe, balsamic vinegar and Martini Bianco, referencing the city’s maritime history and architectural character.
The menu includes Sound of the City, titled Yellow Submarine, which takes inspiration from Liverpool’s musical legacy. The cocktail combines Belvedere vodka, mezcal, Yellow Chartreuse, lemon, chamomile and turmeric.
Completing the selection is Love & Legacy, titled Boss Tha, a reference to local slang used to describe something positive. The drink features Grey Goose vodka, cherry cordial, smoked Lapsang tea and Champagne, and is served in a presentation inspired by the city’s postboxes.
“Just like Liverpool, this menu is full of heart,” says Annie Brown, General Manager. “It tells stories of Liverpool’s culturally rich past and present and gives deep appreciation to the people who make the city what it is. Whether a guest is a proud Scouser or simply just passing through, this menu raises a glass to a city that never fails to make an impression.”
“It has been a pleasure to work with the team on this project and see Liverpool through the lens of a local,” Anna Sebastian comments. “We wanted to work together to create something fun, playful and engaging for the guests as well as bring the vibrancy of Liverpool to life through a little bit of liquid storytelling.”
