Manchester’s The Rex launches with enhanced F&B offering
The Rex in Manchester has entered a new chapter following its rebrand from Hotel Gotham under Leonardo Limited Edition UK Hotels.
The hotel has unveiled a refreshed identity that celebrates its deep-rooted connection to the city while embracing a more contemporary, experience-led approach. The relaunch introduces an enhanced food and drink offering, from afternoon tea and five-course tasting menus at Reign to rooftop drinks with skyline views at Reserve, alongside one-of-a-kind events hosted within the building’s former bank vaults.
Executive Head Chef Bartosz Szynaka blends British ingredients with technical precision, placing a strong emphasis on adaptability and high-quality seasonal produce.
At the heart of the hotel is Reign, The Rex’s signature restaurant. The tasting menu spans a range of flavours, from glazed daikon with fennel sauce to duck egg with Mexican corn, complemented by an extensive wine and cocktail list. Afternoon tea is a standout offering, featuring bespoke sandwiches, homemade scones and delicate house-baked cakes served alongside a selection of teas, infusions or a celebratory glass of bubbles.
Perched on the hotel’s seventh floor, Reserve is hidden behind striking vault-like doors and unfolds across three elegant wings, each with its own outdoor terrace overlooking the city. The menu focuses on elevated small plates and comforting classics, including lamb koftas, tempura prawns, dry-aged sirloin steak and homemade focaccia, paired with crafted cocktails, champagne and curated wines. While Reserve is also home to The Rex’s Private Members’ Club, the venue itself remains open to all guests, with membership offering additional benefits, exclusive events and enhanced access.
The Rex also offers a variety of private dining and event spaces. Treasury, set within the former vaults of 100 King Street, provides a dramatic and versatile setting for events, while Strongroom serves as a discreet private dining room centred around a full-size snooker table that transforms into a statement dining table.
