Customs Bureau, a design firm dedicated to luxury hotels and residences, has designed a new cocktail bar at Four Seasons Hotel Miami.

Located on the hotel’s seventh floor, Séptimo offers an elevated setting for pre- and post-dinner drinks, intimate gatherings and late afternoon aperitifs. The bar draws inspiration from the pre-Prohibition golden age of mixology, while taking a distinctly contemporary approach that feels removed from the pace of the Brickell neighbourhood.

The interiors were devised as a cinematic counterpoint to the bright openness of the hotel lobby. Inspired by the glamour and atmosphere of intimate 1970s cocktail lounges, the firm’s intention was to layer a feeling of nostalgia into the bar’s development.

Soft drapery, tactile fabrics, low lighting, and diffuse glows wrap Séptimo in warmth and intimacy, while satin chrome surfaces, backlit glass block detailing, and sculptural custom furnishings bring a sleek edge to the bar. Fabrics and furniture subtly reference the suiting and fashion of the era, while the overall mood evokes the quiet cool of a Steve McQueen and Clint Eastwood-era lounge, while maintaining a distinctly modern and Miami atmosphere.

“Séptimo is an intimate, moody retreat tucked quietly within the energy of Four Seasons Hotel Miami and the city beyond,” says Creative Director Shida Salehi. “We wanted the bar experience to feel like discovering a hidden corner within the hotel where guests can slow down, decompress, and disappear into atmosphere, music and conversation. Every element was approached cinematically, with careful consideration given to the transition from the hotel’s elegant, promenade-like lobby into the darker, layered and more intimate world of Séptimo.”
