Ørjan Johannessen is set to open Beckerwyc House in September 2023, a hotel which will include its own food academy, providing culinary enrichment for guests.

Residing outside the city of Bergen in Norway, the hotel will comprise 20 rooms and suites, as well as a range of lounging and relaxation areas. Much more than a hotel, however, the property will be home to Beckerwyc Food Academy, with Johannessen at the helm, offering guests food expertise and knowledge along three key axes.

“The food cathedral on the hotel´s top floor will provide room for a variety of food and drink experiences, which are given considerable attention in Beckerwyc House,” says Ørjan Johannessen. “The academy aims to increase food skills by offering food courses for private individuals and businesses, digital food courses via streaming, and competence for our own industry.”

A chambre separée has been designed to cater for private dining experiences, groups and meetings, while restaurant Mirabelle by Ørjan Johannessen will open in November 2023, run by Johannessen’s mentor Odd Ivar Solvold.

Johannessen continues: “Dedication and strong feelings towards precision and taste are something that I have been longing for, and something that can now be realised through our new restaurant Mirabelle, where local ingredients from our island Austevoll are the centre of attention. We will work hard every single day to create unique dining experiences for our guests through carefully planned service and menu.”

Rønnaug Nymark, CEO of Beckerwyc House adds: “We believe that Bekckerwyc House will have an international appeal for both foodies who travel for unique food experiences, and for people who want to find peace and experience the destination Austevoll with its wide range of activities. At the same time, we are very excited about strengthening our overall offer to both local, national and international travelers.”
