Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination, a resort in the heart of Tuscany’s Maremma region, has reopened after a renovation, with architecture and interiors practice, THDP, behind refurbishments of 1919 restaurant, a new winter garden, and a country-style restaurant overlooking the golf course.
At 1919 restaurant, Jannelli & Volpi wallpaper with a classical floral motif sets the rustic theme. Leaf patterns evoke the gardens of Saturnia, with olive green and terracotta hues, and interior walls are finished with a terracotta effect. Ceilings are painted a dusty blue, evoking a serene, water-like atmosphere.
Most furnishings are by Talenti Outdoor, including armchairs accented with leaf-patterned decorative cushions, which match the custom-designed dishware, and tables featuring glazed Zellige terracotta tiles by Marazzi. Inside, and Livoni’s cosy armchairs surround round tables, and decorative lighting by Toscot – a Tuscan company specialising in handmade terracotta – is used in both the restaurant and the winter garden.
The project puts guests at its centre, with every innovation the result of careful listening to the desires and, at times, even direct suggestions of visitors —particularly those of the many loyal guests who return regularly to Terme di Saturnia, while also highlighting the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living.
