The London Edition announces four F&B appointments

The London Edition has announced four new key personnel appointments across the hotel: Andrei Poptelecan as Executive Chef; Anne Lomas as Director of Food & Beverage; Anthony Callegari as Bars Manager; and Giuseppe D’Aniello as Head Sommelier.

Andrei Poptelecan, Executive Chef

Andrei Poptelecan – who prefers to be known as Jon – has taken over the helm of Executive Chef of the hotel, including heading up Berners Tavern. Having worked at the property since 2014, the chef has worked his way up through the ranks, garnering the respect of his colleagues and the restaurants’ director, Jason Atherton, making him one of the top choices to become only the restaurant’s second Executive Chef after Phil Carmichael who headed up the restaurant since it launched in 2013.

Jason Atherton comments, “I’m thrilled for Andrei to be promoted to Executive Chef at Berners Tavern. He has worked with us for over six years, supporting Phil, therefore I’m happy to be able to reward his loyalty with the top job of filling Phil’s very big shoes. We have already created a fantastic autumn menu together and I’m so excited to continue to work with him and watch him grow.”

Anne Lomas, Director of Food & Beverage

Anne Lomas joins The London Edition’s Executive Guidance Team as Director of F&B and will oversee all aspects and operations of the hotel’s food & beverage programme. Lomas brings with her a wealth of experience having previously held the position of Director of Restaurants at The Savoy, overseeing several outlets and departments including the relaunch of the prestigious Simpson’s on the Strand.

Anthony Callegari, Bars Manager

Anthony Callegari has been appointed as Bars Manager and will oversee all hotel bar offerings, including Punch Room, Lobby Bar and the Berners Tavern bar offering. Callegari joins the hotel from Mortimer House, where he was Head of Bars, and prior to that he spent four years as Bars Manager at The Ned.

Giuseppe D’Aniello, Head Sommelier

Hailing from Italy, D’Aniello’s passion for wine began at a young age learning from his father sampling bottles at the family table and being surrounded by the processes and passion for making wine. Joining The London Edition from The Lanesborough, he has been in the wine industry for over ten years, gaining his Diploma Level 4 WSET in 2018 and becoming Certified CMS in 2019. He will be responsible for the hotel’s wine programme including all buying.

David Stanton, General Manager at The London Edition, comments; “We are thrilled to be welcoming Anne, Anthony and Giuseppe to the Edition family and delighted that Jon will be taking over the Executive Chef role. Each of them brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the hotel and we’re looking forward to the new team working together to continue to enhance the hotel’s food and beverage concepts.”
