The Fife Arms launches whisky partnership with Dave Broom & Adelphi Distillery

The Fife Arms has partnered with whisky writer Dave Broom and Adelphi Distillery to launch a whisky celebrating the opening of the new whisky bar, Bertie’s.

Set to launch on 13th September, The Fife Arms Braemar Whisky will become the hotel’s house whisky and will be available throughout the other bars and restaurants in the hotel and the hotel’s shop as well as online.

Reminiscent of signature whiskies enjoyed in the late Victorian and Edwardian era, The Fife Arms Braemar Whisky has a rich fruitiness to it which comes from sherry casks. This is then tempered by subtle layers of smoke from Ardnamurchan, Adelphi’s distillery found on the secluded West Coast of Scotland. A distillery powered entirely by renewable energy; the whiskies are made from Alex’s family barley farms in Fife.  The West Coast style of smokiness found in this dram is balanced by a sweet, gentle, light fruit top note.

Later this year, The Fife Arms will also launch a collection of single cask whiskies in partnership with Broom and Alex Bruce, Managing Director of Adelphi Distillery.

Inspired by the famous Royal bon viveur, King Edward VII, also known as ‘Bertie’, the new whisky bar at The Fife Arms embraces the monarch’s extravagance and appetite for life.

Working closely with the hotel team, Dave Broom carefully curated the collection of 365 whiskies in Bertie’s, one for each day of the year, and each one chosen for its character, flavour and story. Eighty-five percent are Scotch whiskies, with the rest of the best from 17 other countries around the world.

Within Bertie’s, whisky bottles are arranged by flavour profile like books on shelves, backlit in a lustrous amber liquid casting a seductive glow across the room. With no bar, guests are encouraged to discover, wander and browse with bartenders as ‘librarians’ to answer questions and make suggestions. The range of whiskies available will constantly be refreshed, keeping pace with exciting new whisky arrivals, the list ever evolving and stimulating.

Bertie’s also offers a complementing tasting menu filled with delicacies, along with a small whisky cocktail menu. An immersive whisky tasting programme is also available.
