Jersey’s Bohemia Restaurant is set to reopen its doors on Saturday 20 June, and in doing so will become the only Michelin-starred restaurant across the whole of Great Britain to welcome guests back.

Thanks to its self-governing location, where alfresco dining has been permitted since May, the restaurant will be allowed to operate in adherence with government guidelines and with social distancing measures in place.

“We have spent this last week preparing our new season menus and bringing the team up to speed on the new operating procedures. We are very excited to welcome our customers back and were surprised when we realised, we will be the only Michelin-starred restaurant open in Great Britain,” says Owner Lawrence Huggler.

“It really brings home how tough the lockdown has been and still is on the hospitality industry in particular. We hope it won’t be long before many more restaurants across the UK can reopen as we are this weekend and we can all start the road to recovery.”

Led by Head Chef Callum Graham, Bohemia – which has held a Michelin star for 16 years – serves modern-European dishes and innovative tasting menus that showcase the best of Jersey’s local and seasonal ingredients, from lobster, crab, oysters to fresh island dairy and, of course, Jersey Royal potatoes.

With the team now back in the kitchen, Bohemia will re-launch with a new summer menu, perfected by Graham whilst the restaurant has only been open for ‘Bohemia at Home’ home-dining kits. The first weekend will only offer guests the seven-course tasting menu, made using local ingredients sourced that day.

The following week, diners may choose from the à la carte, a three-course set lunch menu, or one of the tasting menus. New dishes include heritage tomato pressing with local crab salad, consommé and nasturtium sorbet; roasted saddle of lamb and braised lamb shoulder, with artichoke and Chardonnay puree, barigoule artichokes, black trompette mushrooms and wild garlic; and peach and almond tart with lemon verbena.

Bohemia is located at The Club Hotel & Spa in Jersey’s coastal capital, St Helier. The property, which reopened to islanders this week and will welcome foreign tourists from July, features 38 guestrooms and eight suites, a rooftop terrace for alfresco dining, heated indoor and outdoor pools and a spa with five treatment rooms.
