Broome in Manhattan, an 18 Main property, has reopened with a new restaurant and bar, with newly reimagined rooms and suites to follow later this year.

Broome Restaurant is inspired by the sophistication of New York, the warmth of the Mediterranean and the timeless charm of the French countryside. The menu is rooted in classic French culinary tradition and shaped by the seasonality and vibrant flavours of Mediterranean dining, built around seasonal produce, seafood, grilled meats and fresh herbs, alongside a thoughtfully curated wine list.

Central to the experience is breakfast, reserved exclusively for hotel guests and their personal guests. Served in the courtyard, the offering includes a shared breakfast board of sourdough, brioche, croissants, daily pastries and a selection of cheeses, alongside a choice of main course, from Eggs Benedict with cured salmon and toasted brioche to a truffle scrambled croissant, Japanese soufflé pancake or traditional malabi milk pudding with rosewater and pistachios.

The reopening marks the most significant evolution in the property’s recent history and the formal launch of 18 Main’s flagship New York City site, with plans to open several additional hotels in select US cities over the coming years. Founded by Managing Partner Tom Intrator, 18 Main anchors Broome as a destination in its own right, introducing a new food and beverage programme, a refreshed guest experience and a renewed identity – all under the direction of Liron Sanado, who has led operations at the property for the past two and a half years.

“At its core, my vision for Broome is to create a space that naturally becomes part of people’s lives,” says Sanado. “The hotel offers a rare sense of calm, intimacy and understated luxury – a place where guests can stay, dine, gather and disappear from the city for a few hours, even as the neighbourhood moves at its own pace just beyond the courtyard gate.”

Interiors were envisioned by Sonoé Architecture & Design Studio, who conceived Broome as a sequence of experiences rather than a single design statement. Set within a nearly 200-year-old building, the renovation unfolds in layers, beginning with the property’s historic red-brick façade and moving gradually from the collective energy of the street towards the intimacy of a private retreat.

At its centre sits a hidden courtyard, the social heart of the hotel, linking the lobby, bar, restaurant and guest rooms into a single narrative, while each space retains its own distinct mood. Public rooms are richly layered with art, books and collected objects, creating an atmosphere that feels gathered over time rather than staged, while guest rooms shift register entirely, conceived as the imagined home of a well-travelled New Yorker.
