The Dorchester has offered a tantalising glimpse of its upcoming Vesper Bar ahead of its official opening in December.
The landmark London hotel, which is currently undergoing its biggest transformation in 30 years, has partnered with designer Martin Brudnizki to turn its former cocktail spot The Bar into a glamorous new venue.
Inspired by the elegance and spirit (and the manners and mayhem) of the 1930s, Vesper Bar will feature its own entrance on the prestigious Park Lane, as well as an outdoor terrace offering views over Hyde Park. The ornate interior includes a Palladium leaf ceiling and a cosy snug area, alongside original drawings and celebrity portraits by the acclaimed British photographer Cecil Beaton.
The British element is also evident in the name of the venue – a reference to the James Bond novels written by Ian Flemming, who was a regular guest at the hotel throughout his life.
As part of the extensive refurbishment, heritage property The Dorchester is also collaborating with the designer Pierre-Yves Rochon on a new look for its rooms and suites, which will be revamped in varying colourways inspired by an English garden. The hotel remains open to guests throughout the renovation.
