London’s The Wolseley to open first hotel in New York
The Wolseley Hotels has announced its global launch, with an inaugural property opening in New York City slated for early 2027.
Inspired by The Wolseley restaurant on London’s Piccadilly, the new brand brings elements of British and European hospitality to major cities around the world. The hotels focus on well-designed spaces, attentive service and dining that encourages social gathering.
The first property, The Wolseley Hotel New York, is located near Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan. It occupies the building at 130 West 44th Street, originally built in 1905 as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club and designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White.
At the heart of the hotel is The Wolseley New York, the brand’s first US restaurant and its flagship dining venue for North America. The restaurant offers all-day dining and cocktails in a setting inspired by the grand café style associated with The Wolseley in Piccadilly. Complementing the restaurant is an intimate cellar-level speakeasy bar designed to provide a more discreet and atmospheric setting.
As the first property under The Wolseley Hotels brand, the New York opening marks the beginning of a gradual international expansion, with future hotels planned in cities across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
