Neighbourhood bar and kitchen opens at Staycity Dalston

Squeeze, an independent neighbourhood bar and kitchen, has opened its doors across the basement, ground level and rooftop of Staycity Dalston.

The all-day dining venue serves up the best of London’s makers and producers – locally brewed craft beers, cocktails, wines and distilled spirits, alongside a menu of sharing snacks and light bites including artisanal sourdough sandwiches from Dusty Knuckle, pies from Dulwich Pantry and homemade Dalston tarts.

The breakfast offering features naturally gluten-free, multi-seed porridge and a choice of toppings, fresh fruits, creamy yoghurts and overnight oats, while cooked dishes include eggs on Dusty Knuckle sourdough with smashed avocado, crumbled feta and toasted tamari seeds. Coffee at Squeeze is brewed by Ozone.

40ft Brewery will operate the venue’s basement micro-brewery, 40ft Below, which will focus production on Main Squeeze IPA. Draught beers include German style Pilsner Disco Pils, Hazy Pale Ale Dalston Sunrise and Nitro Irish Stout 40ft Deep. There will also be a selection of low & no beers.

Squeeze’s lineup of liquors features creations from East London Liquor Company, while the wine edit is described as “playful, urban and just a little unexpected”.

Designed by Sasha Filskow, interiors take on a retro colour palette with grounding hues of golden oranges and warm reds, punctuated by muted tones of forest green and teal. Photography plays a prominent role in the design with a series of intimate, candid film shots throughout the space. Nods to locality and community can be seen through the upholstery, which mirrors the geometric design of TfL’s overground train seating.

Programming includes regular book clubs, DJ sets and vinyl-only nights, while amenities include a fußball table, darts board, chess set and collection of board games.
