OBMI designs interiors for Amanie at Qasr Al Sarab

OBMI has designed the interiors of Amanie, a dining venue at Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara in Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quarter.

Inspired by the ethereal beauty of a desert mirage, the interior integrates atmospheric elements with refined aesthetics. To achieve this, OBMI combines Mediterranean and desert influences, using muted colours, light wood, handwoven fibres, terracotta and rope.

The palette is muted and sun-washed. Think off-whites, dusty pastels and warm natural textures that mirror the tones of dawn across the dunes.

A key design element is the use of antique mirror cladding to reflect the sunset, an important feature requested by the client. To elevate this ritual, OBMI introduced a system of raised flooring throughout the dining area, offering guests an enhanced vantage point.

Adding to the ambience, gradient mosaics glimmer under soft light, woven ceiling patterns draw the eye upward, and plush seating invites stillness.

Led by Michelin-starred Chef Giuseppe Pino Lavarra, the restaurant incorporates open layouts that emphasise a connection to community. The space is designed to be a tranquil, adult-only environment, with subtle lighting and furnishings that encourage relaxation.
