Marriott International has unveiled plans for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights, marking the brand’s Brooklyn debut with a signature dining destination from Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG).

Anchoring the property’s vibrant street presence, USHG, founded by Danny Meyer, will open its first full-service Brooklyn restaurant on the building’s ground floor.

Designed to become a destination for both residents and the surrounding community, the restaurant will bring the group’s neighbourhood-driven hospitality model to Brooklyn Heights while offering residents access to dining, private entertaining opportunities and curated culinary experiences.

Designed by New York architecture firm Helmle & Huberty, the hotel originally opened in 1909 and quickly became a treasured destination for the neighbourhood, welcoming celebrities, business leaders and championship athletes and famously hosting the Brooklyn Dodgers’ 1955 World Series celebration.

SomeraRoad, a New York- and Nashville-based opportunistic real estate investment and development firm, acquired the property in 2025 and assembled a team of architects, designers, preservation specialists, and hospitality collaborators to revitalise and reimagine the landmark.

The building’s distinctive Renaissance Revival architecture is defined by its original geometric pattern brick façade, sculpted granite and limestone base, ornate terra-cotta cornice and window details, arched double-height windows, intricate cast-iron railings and signature lion’s head keystones.

Construction is expected to commence later this year, with completion anticipated in 2029.
