Studio Shoo designs Armenian-inspired restaurant for Marriott
Armenian design firm Studio Shoo has completed the interiors of a new restaurant and lounge for Courtyard by Marriott Yerevan in Armenia.
The project embodies the restaurant’s Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, with interiors that encompass soil, sea and wider nature, through tones of warm terracotta and vibrant burgundy, as well as soft natural greens and blues.
At the restaurant‘s entryway, guests are met by an open kitchen featuring a burgundy pizza oven. Inside, the studio has paid particular attention to the floor, which sees copper pieces handcrafted and assembled in a unique pattern. Many materials and handcrafted pieces have been sourced from local Armenian craftsmen, encouraging guests to immerse themselves in the country’s rich culture.
“Each hotel we work on has a unique narrative and provides a fresh source of inspiration, yet they are all unified by shared brand values,” says Shushana Khachatrian, founder of Studio Shoo. “At the same time, the design approach should be independent of trends. In this particular instance, I was influenced by colours and earth tones such as terracotta, ochre and brick. I also wanted to engage with natural materials such as rattan, dried flowers from the Armenian fields, marble and copper.”
