The Bloomsbury Club debuts vinyl-inspired cocktail menu
The Bloomsbury Club at The Bloomsbury Hotel, London, has introduced The Listeners Club, a cocktail menu inspired by five defining musical eras.
Presented on 7-inch records, each menu explores a different period, inviting guests to work their way through the cocktails as they might browse a record collection.
The experience begins with the Club’s Collector’s Ledger, a leather-bound volume introducing each era through label artwork, with a track list of cocktails on the reverse alongside handwritten tasting notes.
The collection has been created by The Bloomsbury Club’s bar team, led by Bar Manager Antonio Papariello.
Each era features three original cocktails alongside a B-side non-alcoholic serve, offering a zero-proof interpretation of one of its alcoholic counterparts.
The Jazz Age (1920s–1930s)
The opening selection draws on the structure and swagger of the Jazz Age.
Zou Bisou utilises stone fruit and soft citrus with a hint of smoke from Monkey Shoulder whisky, while Stardust Echo brings together vodka, sake and shochu with clarified nashi pear and green shiso.
Blues & Soul (1940s–1950s)
The next selection takes its cues from blues and the emerging soul movement.
Monroe Glow combines butter-washed Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon Whiskey, Cognac and nutty sherry in a full-bodied serve inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Hit Road combines whiskey with ginger and black cardamom, finished with lemon and maple syrup.
Latin Jazz & Bossa Nova (1950s–1960s)
Bright citrus, fresh botanicals and tropical notes reflect the musical cultures of Brazil, Cuba and wider Latin America.
Ipanema Night mixes Discarded banana peel rum with Alabat XO Heritage Armagnac, alongside notes of date, cocoa nib and fig. Sway Baby combines rum and tequila with mint, lime and Sichuan pepper.
Funk & R&B (1970s–1990s)
The funk and R&B selection brings together bolder flavours and contrasting ingredients. Super Freak combines pink grapefruit and lime with basil and coriander, alongside jalapeño-infused orange liqueur.
Contemporary (2000 onwards)
The final selection brings the menu into the present day, with contemporary techniques and flavour combinations.
Midnight City blends Rémy Martin 1738 with apple pie, chamomile, verjus and toasted sesame. The zero-proof Get Lucky takes its cues from whiskey, using Abstinence Cape Malt alongside yuzu sherbet and Saicho Jasmine sparkling tea.
