The Met Hotel Leeds unveils Gott’s Bar & Kitchen
The Met Hotel Leeds has unveiled the results of its latest refurbishment, which includes a brand new restaurant, Gott’s Bar & Kitchen.
First opened in 1899, the Grade II listed building has long been an architectural and social landmark in the city. Designed by local architects Chorley & Connon and brought to life by designers Matthews Mee, its distinctive terracotta façade and Victorian features have been carefully preserved while the interiors have been reimagined to capture Leeds’ cultural spirit.
From the grand entrance and sweeping staircase to the hotel’s barrel vaulted ceilings, every space has been refreshed with close attention to detail. Warm tones, rich textures and atmospheric lighting add a sense of comfort and sophistication to the historic setting. Sustainability is at the heart of the project, with locally sourced materials and recycled or repurposed finishes that showcase regional craftsmanship.
The refurbishment also introduces Gott’s Bar & Kitchen, the hotel’s new restaurant and bar. This contemporary dining space champions local produce and bold Yorkshire flavours, offering a modern twist on regional dishes.
Signature plates include steak and onion pie, grilled salmon with seaweed beurre blanc and Korean miso cauliflower, served alongside a carefully curated drinks list.
“The Met Hotel Leeds has always been a special place for the city – a meeting point, a celebration space, and a landmark in its own right,” says General Manager Mike Liddle. “Our vision was to honour its legacy while creating something truly inspiring for today’s guests. The result is a hotel that feels timeless yet completely renewed and a place where history meets modern hospitality.”
