The Savoy announces third Gordon Ramsay venue, Restaurant 1890
Gordon Ramsay is set to launch his third dining venue at The Savoy in London next month. The celebrity chef is putting his weight behind Restaurant 1890, a fine-dining spot that will open its doors on 23 February.
Named after the year the legendary French chef Georges Auguste Escoffier joined The Savoy, Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay will pay homage to the culinary titan. Opening exclusively for dinner, the 26-seat venue will serve up a tasting menu combining seasonal modern French with European influences, with Executive Head Chef James Sharp – previously Senior Sous Chef at the Michelin-starred Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay – at the helm. “It’s always been a dream of mine to run an intimate tasting menu restaurant in such a beautiful location,” said Sharp.
Restaurant 1890 will be the third venue operated by Gordon Ramsay’s group within the luxury hotel, joining the well-established eatery The Savoy Grill and the recently-opened River Restaurant.
“With 1890, our third exciting collaboration with Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, our guests will have a wonderfully contrasting choice of restaurants within The Savoy,” said Franck X Arnold, The Savoy’s Managing Director. “Aesthetically stunning, with an elevated menu as befits its surroundings, 1890 reflects The Savoy’s history of providing luxurious, innovative experiences and we are very much looking forward to its opening.”
