Thompson Madrid has announced a major expansion which includes the opening of three new F&B venues.

Located on the rooftop, Makáá is a fire-led Mediterranean concept by Grupo Lamucca. The open kitchen focuses on ingredients from the garden, sea and farm, with cooking centred around fire. Designed by Patricia Bustos, the space combines sculptural forms with Mediterranean warmth, complemented by rooftop greenery from Laura Berrocal Contreras.

Meanwhile, on the ground floor with direct street access and a terrace, La Barra de Ultramarines draws on Madrid’s tapas culture. The concept focuses on a relaxed, social atmosphere, celebrating local flavours and traditions in an informal setting.

Set within the historic remains of the former Church of San Luis Obispo, Jack’s Club is a British-inspired speakeasy. Preserving architectural elements more than 200 years old, the space combines cocktail-led storytelling with live music and a piano bar.

“Dining in Madrid is much more than a meal, it is part of the city’s rhythm,” says Amar Lalvani, President and Creative Director of The Lifestyle Group at Hyatt. “At Thompson Madrid, each venue reflects a clear point of view, combining strong design with a cohesive culinary identity.”

As part of the expansion, the hotel now opens directly onto a revitalised Plaza del Carmen, featuring green space, outdoor terraces and a renewed sense of energy. Inside, interiors by Madrid-based López y Tena and Lyta Interior Design & Architecture Studio combine leather, marble and wood.
