Renowned Portuguese fine porcelain house Vista Alegre has teamed up with Austrian chef Sebastian Frank for the latest addition to the brand’s Hotelware range.

Aura by Chef Sebastian Frank – Chefs’ Collection is a piece designed by the culinary maestro, voted Best European Chef 2018, and owner of two-Michelin-starred Horváth in Berlin.

In conceiving the plate, Frank was inspired by the grandeur exhibited in the designs of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and especially the impressive golden railing that surrounds the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna, the work of court architect, Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach.

The result is a bold fusion of minimalism and maximalism, featuring a reconstruction of the famed historic fence in a circular composition on the plate’s surface, finished in the centre with a luxurious golden line.

A celebration of ornate geometry composed with a delicate juxtaposition of textures, the interplay between glazed porcelain and biscuit invites the dance of light and shadow on the plate’s surface, while also creating a dynamic, robust product that vividly captures the timeless elegance of this rich architectural period.

Vista Alegre is a Portuguese institution dating back centuries. Founded by José Ferreira Pinto Basto in 1824, the company has embraced modernisation to become one of the most well-known manufacturers in the world. The Vista Alegre Hotelware ranges are a distinctive set of products jointly developed alongside prestigious designers and internationally acclaimed chefs. They are resistant, functional and innovative pieces created with the most demanding professionals in mind.
