Locke has revealed its stylish new aparthotel in Dublin. Named Beckett Locke in honour of the city’s famed writer Samuel Beckett, it is the hospitality brand’s second launch in the Irish capital.
Located in Dublin’s thriving Docklands neighbourhood, the 241-studio Beckett Locke was designed by the London arm of the global firm AvroKO, in collaboration with local company C+W O’Brien Architects. Its interiors reference the industrial heritage of the area and the maritime history of the city as a whole, with social spaces inspired by the traditional Docklands market hall in terms of layout. A co-working area, meeting rooms, cocktail bar, coffee shop and restaurant are set around a central glass atrium for a convivial effect.
Beckett Locke’s food and beverage offering includes three new concepts by Alan Clancy’s native restaurant group, NolaClan. An artisan coffee shop named North 7th Coffee will serve the co-working space throughout the day, offering pastries and heart sandwiches alongside caffeine fixes. The onsite restaurant The Belis will serve up classic Irish dishes with a contemporary twist, and the theatrical cocktail bar Sam’s Corner will shake up handcrafted cocktails inspired by Beckett himself.
In case none of that appeals, the apartments themselves also come with fully-fitted kitchens, living and dining spaces. Designed by Edyn Development Studio, the decor encompasses black steel, exposed concrete and rust-coloured soft furnishings, evoking the intrepid colourways and history of the Docklands.
Since it first debuted in 2016, Locke has expanded to include sites across the UK and Europe. The opening of Beckett Locke follows the successful launch of the 160-apartment Zanzibar Locke, which opened by Ha’penny Bridge in the centre of Dublin in June this year.
