Pastry chef Cedric Grolet is set to unveil his first patisserie outside of France in the New Year. The patissier – widely-considered to be one of the best in the world – is launching Cedric Grolet at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge early in 2022.

“Opening in London is a monumental event for me,” says Grolet. “It’s the first time we will be outside of France, and London – particularly The Berkeley with its forward thinking attitude – was the obvious choice.”

He adds: “It is such a special city and its energy completely inspires me. I can’t wait to open early next year and share with the capital the result of mixing my two universes for the very first time.”

Hotel guests and diners at the London outpost will be able to purchase Grolet’s famous ‘trompe-l’œil’ fruit and flower delicacies, as well as pastries, viennoiseries and exclusive new creations. Take away options will be available, and customers will also be able to sit and enjoy the treats at The Berkeley Café, an entirely new 60 seater space within the hotel. The Berkeley Café will also serve ‘Le petit déjeuner’ and  ‘Goûter Cedric Grolet’, an entirely new teatime ritual.

The entrance to Cedric Grolet at The Berkeley will be positioned on Knightsbridge, overlooking Hyde Park. Designed by Remi Tessier, the space will house an open kitchen where guests will be able to see Grolet’s team creating his masterpieces.
