Nicola Gartenberg, previously Operations Director at the Adam Handling Restaurant Group, has been promoted to Executive Director for the group, and has been appointed to the board.

Gartenberg joined AHRG four years ago, overseeing the openings of most of the restaurant group portfolio, and has been instrumental in helping the company pivot to the home delivery option, Hame, during lockdown.

Adam Handling commented: “We have an exciting rollout plan for the group, triggered by the success of Hame, which is going to be steered by Nicola in her new role.”

“And whilst I’m still very much involved in the overall development of the Group, as its owner, lockdown has helped me to realise how much I’ve missed being in the kitchen. I’m going to be spending more time in Frog by Adam Handling, and am determined not to miss out on a Michelin star in 2022.”

Adding: “Nicola brings an abundance of professionalism and determination, and everyone at AHRG congratulates Nicola for her outstanding dedication to the success of the Group.”

Chef Adam Handling started out at Gleneagles 16 years ago where he was the first ever apprentice chef, before going on to become Fairmont’s youngest ever head chef.

In 2018, the chef was appointed Chef patron of the Belmond Cadogan Hotel in Chelsea, London, which opened in February 2019. The main restaurant, Adam Handling Chelsea, and the accompanying Bar and Terrace, serves modern British cuisine taking inspiration from the international culinary flavours found in London.

Alongside overseeing the entire food and beverage offering within the hotel, the chef also opened the afternoon tea lounge, Cadogan’s by Adam Handling. The afternoon tea is inspired by childhood memories at his grandmother’s house, combined with the history and nostalgia of traditional High Tea, and is freshly prepared in the in-house bakery every day.

As zero-waste has always been cpre to the group’s ethos, in 2019 the chef opened Ugly Butterfly on King’s Road in Chelsea. The restaurant utilised all the waste from its neighbouring restaurant Adam Handling Chelsea at Belmond Cadogan Hotel.
