The Runnymede On Thames, Surrey appoints Ahmet Korkut as new Head Pastry Chef

The Runnymede On Thames, Surrey has announced the appointment of new Head Pastry Chef, Ahmet Korkut.

Korkut has gained a vast amount of experience from working at some of the best hotels and restaurants in London, including Shangri-La, The Savoy and Sketch, where he developed his passion for delivering remarkable service.

His passion for food came from his Turkish-Cypriot roots, with his grandad becoming a prominent figure in sparking his culinary dreams. Together they would create innovative dishes, which led to his desire to produce his own pastry recipes. After completing his marketing degree, Korkut then went to culinary school at Westminster College.

Along the way, Korkut has been inspired by countless individuals within the industry including Martin Chiffers, Nick Patterson, Dale DeSimone. Slawomir Sowa, who now works at The Hide as head baker, was Ahmet’s mentor, from whom he learned the fundamental skills to enrich his career.

Korkut has described his new position at The Runnymede on Thames as a “pinnacle of his career”, commenting that he will thrive in the “more relaxed environment, with a change of scenery”. His expertise, creative flair and imagination will offer guests a memorable afternoon tea experience by the river.
