Bottle of YTL Hotels' limited-edition Scotch whisky

YTL Hotels toasts bespoke whisky

YTL Hotels has unveiled its own limited-edition whisky, which will be served at all five of its UK properties.

Commissioned by Dato’ Mark Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Hotels, the new expression is a bespoke Adelphi Glenborrodale Batch Six. A total of 1,496 bottles have been made, with 150 labelled for YTL Hotels.

The whisky, priced at £14 per 50ml shot, will be offered to guests at properties like Threadneedles in London, Monkey Island Estate in Bray and The Glasshouse in Edinburgh.

“We are delighted to be working with Adelphi, Scotland’s most acclaimed bottler of rare single cask and limited-edition single malt whisky,” says Dato’ Mark Yeoh. “It really is the ideal partnership between two family-run businesses, each focused on delivering world-class service and products and we can’t wait to see guests enjoying this special drink across YTL’s properties.”

“The dark-gold YTL whisky is evocative of a summer Scottish breakfast with buttered oatcakes and heather honey,” adds Tom Gibson, General Manager of The Glasshouse. “Guests can look forward to flavours including dark cherry, white peach and kiwi fruit compote and hazelnut spread on well-toasted drop scones.”

YTL Hotels is planning to bottle another batch of the whisky for its properties outside the UK. The company has a presence in a host of countries around the world, including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan, Australia and France.

An increasing number of hotels are experimenting with developing bespoke high-end spirits for guests. In November 2018, for example, Irish golf resort Adare Manor launched an exclusive single pot still Irish whiskey at an exclusive event priced at €2,000 per head.
