Allegra at The Stratford Hotel in East London has announced the reopening of its outdoor terrace and launch of a pop-up dining experience.

Called Happy Burger at Allegra, the four week pop-up will launch on 15 April and will offer a concise and playful menu prepared by chef Patrick Powell.

Dish highlights will include; ‘The Happy Burger’, an Oklahoma-style onion burger with American cheese, Fried chicken with Mustard Fruit, Aioli and Pickles, Half a Dozen Oysters with Pickled Seaweed Mignonette and a Rhubarb and Custard Doughnut.

Guest can also expect sides such as Fried Potatoes with Beef Chilli, Sour Cream and Cheese and a Wedge Salad with Buttermilk Dressing, Radish and Cucumber.

Throughout the month, Happy Burger at Allegra, will also welcome London restaurants who, without outdoor seating, will remain closed until mid-May – the stage at which inside dining in England is expected to resume.

Each chef will prepare a five-course menu on the 7th-floor terrace’s barbecue pit starting off with Ben Marks and Matt Emmerson of Perilla in Newington Green on Sunday 18 April, followed by Sertac and Ferhat Dirik of Dalston’s Mangal 2 on Sunday 25 April.

Sunday 2 May will see chef Sebastian Myers, previously of P Franco, serving up a preview of dishes from his new restaurant and wine bar, Planque, which launches in Haggerston this summer. AngloThai’s John and Diz Chantarasak will also join the line-up on 9 May, marrying Thai flavours with British ingredients.

Patrick Powell commented: “Once it was announced restaurants with outdoor areas could reopen in April, it seemed like a great opportunity to do something a bit different until we’re back operating fully again.”

“Allegra means ‘cheerful’ in Italian, so while we wanted the pop-up to refer back to the restaurant, we also thought the name was rather apt having been closed for such a large part of the past year.”

Happy Burger at Allegra will operate from Thursday afternoons through to Sundays, with beers on tap, seasonal cocktails and sangria pitchers available throughout the day.
