London is getting a dash of 1970s Hollywood opulence thanks to the launch of Sweeties, a new cocktail bar coming to The Standard this month. As of February 24, the luxury hotel’s 10th floor will be home to the new venue, which features glamorous interiors designed by long-time Standard collaborator Shawn Hausman.

Featuring ochre velvet sofas, ruched leather banquettes, mirrored tables and a six-foot antique phallic sculpture, Sweeties is setting itself up as one of the capital’s most glamorous and playful nightspots – and it features a mood-boosting cocktail list to match. Award-winning mixologists Jack Sotti and Todd Austin are behind the drinks offering, which focuses on feel-good ingredients and energising adaptogens and nootropics such as reishi, ashwagandha and holy basil, to allow guests to ease into the night.

Signature cocktails include the pink ‘Frothy Boi’ – a heady concoction of lacto-rhubarb, gin, raspberry, pink pepper and gut-friendly fermented amazake oats – as well as ‘Pick Me Up’,  which comprises a blend of eight adaptogenic mushrooms, brown vodka, buttery cacao and coffee. ‘Crystal Healing’, an electric blue cocktail made with spirulina, pepper dulse seaweed distillate, bergamot, and electrolyte-rich coconut ice, is also sure to be a hit. Many of the cocktails will also be available in non-alcoholic versions.

An evolving line-up of international DJs playing expansive classic and contemporary sounds and a giant disco ball will round out the Sweeties offering, putting it firmly on the map as one of London’s go-to spots.
