Hotel Calimala Florence has opened The Lobby, a new ground floor aperitivo bar, alongside a refreshed culinary direction at Angel Roofbar & Dining.

Evolving from Meze, The Lobby offers a bar and lounge experience centred on modern Italian aperitivo cuisine. Alongside a selection of Italian wines and refined signature cocktails, chef Hilla Attar has created a menu of elevated sharing dishes, from prosciutto and melon to fried polenta and chicken liver pâté.

Set within a 19th century Gothic-style building reimagined by architect Alex Meitlis, the interiors feature black and white patterned tile flooring, contemporary lighting and colourful artworks. A semi-circular marble bar anchors one end of the space, while in spring and summer aperitivo is served al fresco.

Angel Roofbar & Dining has also reopened for the season. The three-storey open-air space offers views across the city skyline and introduces an updated approach to modern Italian cuisine. Dishes include trofie with pesto; grilled fish skewers with leeks, spinach, confit garlic and Calabrian chilli; and the Angel burger. With two indoor and outdoor bars, the drinks list features signature cocktails such as the Angel Mule and figs and pepper, alongside non-alcoholic options including Journey to the Aegean.

At Angel Roofbar, guests are surrounded by views of Florence’s Renaissance landmarks. Golden hour is a key moment, as the city shifts into evening and the floral patio takes on a more intimate atmosphere.
