Waldorf Astoria New York launches Elevenses at Peacock Alley
Waldorf Astoria New York has launched Elevenses, an afternoon tea experience served at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Peacock Alley.
Guests are invited to discover the world of tea through storytelling, aroma, craftsmanship and personalised tableside service, with the hotel’s Tealeaves collection presented alongside handcrafted beverages, sparkling infusions and tea-inspired petits fours such as Earl Grey yuzu sable, chamomile honey tart and pear green tea macarons.
Elevenses is served on fine bone china in partnership with Lohr Astor, who lends her Waldorf Star tableware collection to the experience. Inspired by the hotel’s architecture, history and enduring role as a place of gathering, inspiration took root during Astor’s stay at the hotel last year following its eight-year restoration. It offers a contemporary expression of the Astor family’s connection to the property, linking one of New York’s great social institutions with a new generation of entertaining.
A Japanese-inspired interpretation of the hotel’s storied afternoon tea tradition has also been added to the restaurant’s dining options. Yoshoku Afternoon Tea features savoury options such as smoked salmon onigiri and Wagyu pastrami sandwiches, as well as sweets including apricot honey macaron and ume entremet.
