W London partners with Brighton-based artist for colourful afternoon tea
W London has introduced a new afternoon tea experience, developed in partnership with Brighton-based artist Lois O’Hara.
Bringing together O’Hara’s artistic vision with the expertise of W London’s Pastry Consultant Leyre Pedrazuela Otero, the new afternoon tea’s dessert options draw inspiration from themes of wellbeing and positive mental health. ‘Zen’ combines passion fruit, mango and matcha tea, while ‘Clear Mind’ offers the pure essence of orange and olive oil – a nod to Pedrazuela Otero’s Spanish roots. ‘Nature’ celebrates the joys of a garden harvest with blueberry and lemon, and ‘Connect’ taps into a classic pairing of peanut and chocolate. Finally, ‘Creativity’ delivers a surprising flavour experience through a combination of raspberry and black sesame.
‘Joy’ is a cocktail served up alongside the sweet treats – a fusion of Boxer Gin, Oolong Tea, pandan, vanilla and lemon. The colourful cakes are also paired with an assortment of savoury sandwiches, from beetroot-cured smoked Scottish salmon, cream cheese, dill and tobiko to smoked chicken with tarragon mayonnaise, cucumber and Dorset mint butter.
O’Hara’s artistic direction extends beyond the menu, with the creation of a bespoke cake stand designed in her signature curved silhouette, as well as limited-edition plates. The artist has also created a bespoke mural in W Lounge for Frieze London, adding a final pop of colour to the afternoon tea experience.
“We have something truly awesome here – a sensory journey that combines art, taste and emotion, all set to captivate your senses and leave an indelible mark on your memory,” say O’Hara and Pedrazuela Otero.
